St. Joseph’s/Candler opening new facility at Bryan County Hyundai Megaplant

In May 2024, St. Joseph’s/Candler plans to be open and operational with a hospital that is located ONSITE at the Hyundai metasite/megasite in Bryan County, Georgia. At the Hyundai site in Bryan County, Georgia, there will be approximately 8,000 workers onsite. In an effort to serve the injuries of workers at the Bryan County megaplant. St. Joseph’s/Candler, Hyundai, and Bryan County, Georgia officials have taken the extraordinary step of making a client available onsite. This medical care facility will be solely for the use of workers at the Bryan County Hyundai megasite. However, injured factory workers and construction workers should be aware of their rights under the Georgia workers’ compensation system.

If you are injured while working at the Hyundai Plan in Bryan County, Georgia, you are not required to seek treatment at the onsite facility. You do have options and you can choose your treating physician – within the limits of the Georgia workers’ compensation system. There will be certain injuries and types of accidents that are so urgent that getting treatment at the closest possible facility will be necessary, and the St. Joseph’s/Candler clinic will be a valuable resource in those incident. When St. Joseph’s/Candler’s CEO spoke about the clinic, he pointed to a particularly dangerous type of incident. The example he gave was a fire involving batteries and the difficulty that exists with extinguishing battery fires.

While acute/emergency care will be available at the St. Joseph’s/Candler clinic, the clinic will also provide:

• Primary Care services

• Occupational Health services

• Work injury Care services

• Pharmacy Dispensary

• New employee health check-ups

• Physical therapy

• Injury surveillance testing (hearing, vision, pulmonary function, etc.)

• Injury prevention and wellness management

• Chronic disease management

• Diagnostics such as X-ray and EKG

• Drug screening and other lab testing

• Plus other services as needed

Until the permanent facility is completed, there is temporary facility onsite.
