Workers’ Compensation Insurance Coverage Requirements in Georgia

With some minor exceptions, in Georgia, an employer with three or more full time, part time or seasonal employees must maintain workers’ compensation insurance.

If the business is incorporated or a LLC, the corporate officers or members are included in the three or more employee count, regardless of whether they exempt themselves from coverage.

The types of employers that may be excepted from maintaining workers’ compensation coverage are railroad carriers, U.S. Government agencies, farm laborers, and domestic servants.
